I have been writing a tip of the day on twitter, but found it really taxing to get vital driving information in 145 characters, so will be blogging on here instead.
So, first new lengthy tip of the day is ... look after your boot, and your boot will look after you. What is he on about I hear you whisper, well ... spare wheel/tyre. Make sure it's good, make sure it's inflated, make sure you know how to get it on and off. Have you tested your jack? Have you seen it recently? Could you work one? Where is your locking wheel nut bolt key? If you have a blow out, and can't get the wheel off, you're in it up to your neck! If the idea of changing wheels is making your head spin, get one of the those self inflation canisters. They are only good for a little while though.
Other things for your boot. Jump leads. Fuel can. Doesn't nessesarily need to be full, you just need to have something to put fuel in incase you run out. Nothing worse than running out of fuel, walking for miles to the station and then finding they don't have anything for you to put the fuel in. Blanket, gloves, torch, chocolate and water would also be good additions.
