Top 20 rarest cars of the 80s

Posted by Will Dracott on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, In : Car reviews
Here's a fun article on Honest John's website.  They have complied a list of the rarest cars still in action on UK roads, thanks to the DVLA.  Each of these cars has less than 200 in circulation.  Obviously, some were so bad they probably  didn't sell too many, but as time ticks by, these beauties will slowly fade like tears in the rain ....

Once you've had a read of the list, let us know which you think should be saved.  I'm plugging for the Merc 19 SLC.  Only 140 or so left in  existence!...

On the 5th day of Christmas

Posted by Will Dracott on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, In : Motoring news
God it's cold outside today, what I need are some gloves.  Fluffy woolen ones are nice, but boarder line useless with a steering wheel in my hands.  I need driving gloves!  There was a time when when I thought driving gloves were for old men and weirdos (you know who I mean), but then I watched Drive and suddenly,  Ryan Gosling, has brought them to the front of cool and are a real driver's must have accessory.  Does anyone have £250 for these ones made by Dunhill?

Good luck in finding them (...

Road junctions

Posted by Will Dracott on Monday, December 3, 2012, In : Learning
The Highway Code applies to England, Scotland and Wales. It's essential reading for everyone. Here's a reminder about road junctions.

Turning left

Use your mirrors and give a left-turn signal well before you turn left. Do not overtake just before you turn left and watch out for traffic coming up on your left before you make the turn, especially if driving a large vehicle. Cyclists, motorcyclists and other road users in particular may be hidden from your view.

Rule 182

Jail call for disabled badge theft

Posted by Will Dracott on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, In : Motoring news
MOTORISTS who use a stolen disabled "blue badge" parking permit to get a more convenient space for their car should face a minimum six-month jail term, a Tory MP has urged.

Philip Davies said the misuse of disabled parking badges was not taken seriously enough by the authorities.

He said the loss of a blue badge deprived disabled people of their "freedom to go about their daily lives".

The Shipley MP told the Commons: "This actually causes a great deal of distress to many people. It causes them ...

'Two-tier road tax system' mooted

Posted by Will Dracott on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, In : Motoring news
MOTORISTS could face a two-tier road tax under proposals being considered by the Government, it has been reported.

Press reports suggested that drivers could be offered a lower rate of the tax if they agree not to use the country's trunk road network of major A-roads and motorways. Those paying a higher rate of vehicle excise duty would be free to use any roads.

A network of automatic number-plate recognition cameras could be used to catch any drivers who were using the motorways without paying...

Election 2010: what it means to the motorist

Posted by Will Dracott on Sunday, April 25, 2010,

Motoring issues rarely feature at the forefront of a pre-election manifesto, even though transport-based news permeates the day-to-day agenda. Among some of the biggest stories of the last few years have been congestion charging, environment-based car tax changes, unprecedented fuel price rises, and, of course, the scrap scheme.

The cost of motoring is certainly rising, but will it continue unabated when the next Government comes into power? It's difficult to say for sure, but here's ...
