Petrol prices to rise by eight percent

Petrol prices could rise by as much as eight percent in the next six months according to predictions by the Retail Motor Industry Independent Petrol Retailers Association (RMI Petrol).

Oil price hikes and currency movements have been blamed for the impending rise.

RMI Petrol reckons that average petrol prices could reach 125.9 pence in early 2011, blitzing the current record of 121.6 pence. That figure includes the rise in VAT and the Government's planned fuel duty hike.
