There are rumors that the fuel duty rise due to come in next week could be scrapped after the chancellor receives grief from everyone with a car.  Not only does the Government get the fuel duty from petrol and diesel but it gets 20% VAT on the actual cost as well as the duty.  I think they earn enough out of us motorists, don't you?  Let us know your thoughts Bristol.  Should all drivers be taxed again?  Is it a crime to want to drive?

Many motorists over in towards the East of the UK spent the night trapped in their cars when blizzards rolled into the UK.  This just highlights the advise given by the highway code stating that you shouldn't drive in snowy conditions unless it's essential ... because you might get caught in a blizzard and trapped in your car over night!

So close now I can almost feel it.  Today's gift has an element of class about it.  It's a goodie for awkward dads, granddads who have it all, distant faceless uncles and those who drink a lot of wine (and happen to like car stuff too).  These could double up as little stocking fillers, but I'd be loathed to shove a £13 gift in amongst bags of chocolate coins and pointless cosmetics.

I'm going to bring you two gifts today as that's the kind of guy I am.  Indecisive.  It's basically the same thing, except one is for those sitting in the back, i.e the kids and the other one is for those sitting in the front ... although I'm not too sure how I feel about drivers using it.

I could have used one of these things this past year.  I went from having zero crashes in 16 years worth of driving to 4 in the space of a few weeks.  The last one was a right contentious incident with no witnesses and one witless van driver.  If I'd had one of these things, the outcome and legal fight would have been stress free.

So at the moment we have the shoes, gloves, glasses ... only thing missing now accessory wise is a watch.  If you're into racing, or just want to time how quickly you can get the shopping done, this watch by Scuderia could be for you.  A lot of so called "driving" watches can be on the mega expensive side and massively garish, good for premier league footballers, not so for normal types.  The Corsa (I know, unfortunate name) watch wouldn't look out of place on anyones wrist.

God it's cold outside today, what I need are some gloves.  Fluffy woolen ones are nice, but boarder line useless with a steering wheel in my hands.  I need driving gloves!  There was a time when when I thought driving gloves were for old men and weirdos (you know who I mean), but then I watched Drive and suddenly,  Ryan Gosling, has brought them to the front of cool and are a real driver's must have accessory.  Does anyone have £250 for these ones made by Dunhill?

SUMMER traffic on the roads fell to the lowest level for more than a decade, with poor weather and the attraction of the Olympics possibly to blame, provisional Government figures have shown.

Motor vehicle traffic was 1% lighter in summer 2012 (July to September) than in the same period last year, the Department for Transport (DfT) statistics showed.

This summer's levels were the lowest for this particular period since 2001 and came despite an increase in motorway and rural A-road traffic.

THE M25 orbital road sends drivers round the bend with boredom, according to a survey

It was voted Britain's most boring motorway in a poll of 1,000 UK drivers.

The next least-interesting motorway was the M1 followed by the M6, the survey by Allianz Your Cover Insurance found.

Drivers in Worcester ranked the Midlands' city's roads the most boring in Britain, followed by roads in Chelmsford in Essex and Plymouth in Devon.

MOTORISTS could face a two-tier road tax under proposals being considered by the Government, it has been reported.

Press reports suggested that drivers could be offered a lower rate of the tax if they agree not to use the country's trunk road network of major A-roads and motorways. Those paying a higher rate of vehicle excise duty would be free to use any roads.
