Mercedes builds its toughest ever car

The new Mercedes G-Wagon LAPV 6.X could well be the toughest car ever made. Unveiled at the Eurosatory defence event in Paris, an expo of military equipment and technology, Mercedes claims it is the 'ultimate go-anywhere vehicle'.

Built strictly for active military use, the car is has an unspecified diesel engine and is based on the standard G-Class 4x4.

Merc's electric supercar leaks out

What appear to be official images of a future all-electric Mercedes-Benz supercar have swept the internet, causing a stir amongst car enthusiasts and speculation on the abilities of the new machine.

The E-Cell is based on the SLS AMG supercar launched at the end of 2009. However, in place of a V8 petrol engine there's a series of batteries and four electric motors.

Ultimate Merc convertible unveiled

Those who want the ultimate convertible Mercedes have had their wish granted, courtesy of German tuner TC-Concepts.

The Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series is a car so focussed on performance that AMG replaced its heavy folding roof with a lighter, fixed lid. The downside is that owners can no longer experience the open-top cruising that the SL does so well.
