THINK! Don’t drink drive this Christmas

THINK! and the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) are joining forces to warn drivers that getting behind the wheel after a festive tipple could see them end up behind bars this Christmas.

A hard-hitting television advert highlighting the consequences of drink driving will be shown throughout December as part of the Department for Transport’s THINK! Christmas drink drive campaign.

Better rehabilitation for drink drivers

DSA has confirmed plans to improve drink-drive rehabilitation courses following a public consultation.

In its response to the consultation, DSA has confirmed that:
a more rigorous course approval and quality assurance process will be introduced
the current minimum course fee will be dropped, allowing courses to offer better value for money
the cost of administration, compliance and quality assurance will be transferred from the taxpayer to the offender

Drink drive limit change

THE government has signalled that it plans to cut the drink driving limit to less than a pint of beer or a glass of wine.

Lord Adonis, the transport secretary, expects an official review of the law to recommend reducing the legal limit from 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood to 50mg.

He said he would take this “very seriously” and added: “A strong case has been made to have a lower limit.”

A new law on drug driving is also likely amid concern about the number of motor...
