The Government has released detailed data containing the location of roadworks, cycle routes and parking spaces in the UK.

Motorists will be able to check where road-works are taking place and find information detailing car parking spaces under a new Government drive to provide more data to the public to be launched this week.

Government proposes 80MPH motorway speed limit

Transport Secretary Philip Hammond has announced his intention to consult on raising the national speed limit on motorways from 70 to 80 miles per hour. The government plans to launch a full public consultation on the issue later this year with a view to implementing any change in early 2013.

Scrapping of M4 bus lane leads to shorter journeys

The scrapping of “Prescott’s folly” – the unlamented M4 bus lane – has actually saved time for travellers, a review has found.

Figures produced by the Department for Transport have shown that its removal has cut a minute off the time needed to get into London from Heathrow – 20 seconds more than had been anticipated.
